In the beginning it was just bluegrass
A great relic of the origins of SCI, this demo tape was recorded before Kyle joined the band. Sound quality is A+ and this recording demonstrates the band's instrumental proficiency early on (particularly Billy and Kang).
The first side until Jellyfish is straightforward bluegrass, with some excellent fiddle work on Sunny Skies. Elvis' Wild Rids is a brief interlude, nothing like what it would evolve into later.
Jellyfish is the lone example of SCI's unique style, with a nice funkiness and studio clarity that allows you to hear the entire story clearly.
Blackberry Blossom is jammed out in acoustic fashion. Rhythmess appears to be an early Kang original that was dropped from the band's repertoire after 1996.
